Notifications

The bell icon in the dashboard top bar is your notification center. It surfaces things that need your attention, above all your sending health, without you having to keep the reports page open.

Using the bell

  • A red badge on the bell shows your unread count (it caps at 9+). The count refreshes automatically about once a minute.
  • Click the bell to open the panel and see your recent notifications, newest first.
  • Each notification has a severity icon (error, warning, success, or info), a title, an optional detail line, and how long ago it happened.
  • Clicking a notification marks it as read and, when it relates to a specific page, takes you straight there, for example your reports, campaigns, or transactional email.
  • Click Mark all read in the panel header to clear the unread state in one go.

Notifications are private to your account. Before anything has happened you see the empty state: "No notifications yet. Alerts about your sending health and any errors will show up here."

What triggers a notification

Sending health alerts

SmartMailing continuously watches the health of your sending. You get notified when:

  • Spam complaints or bounces are climbing on one of your brands (warning)
  • Sending is paused because complaints or bounces crossed the safety threshold (error)
  • A brand is suspended over complaints or bounces (error)
  • A send is blocked by the pre-send safety check (warning)
  • Unusual sending volume is detected on your account (warning)
  • A campaign is paused mid-send by the safety monitor (error)
  • Your daily domain warm-up limit is reached (info)

These link to your reports, where the sender health view shows the underlying rates. Recoveries are notified too: you get a success notification when sending resumes, whether automatically or after review.

Brand review decisions

When your brand is reviewed for sending, the outcome lands in the bell: Your brand was approved for sending, or a notification that it was not approved. Pauses or resumes applied by the SmartMailing team also show up here.

Failed transactional sends

If a transactional email fails to deliver at send time, you get an error notification ("A transactional email failed to send") with the recipient and the event that triggered it. It links to your transactional workspace so you can check the send log and the event configuration.

tip

Treat warning notifications about complaints or bounces as an early signal. Acting on them (cleaning the list, adjusting the audience) usually prevents the follow-up notification that sending was paused.
