The brand switcher
Once you have more than one brand, everything in SmartMailing is organized around which brand you are currently working in. The brand switcher is the small chip at the top of each workspace that shows the active brand and lets you change it.
Where you see it
The switcher appears on every brand-scoped workspace: email templates, signatures, campaigns, subscribers, automations, transactional emails, web templates, replies, reports, sending domains, DMARC, Brand Brain, and API keys. It shows the brand's logo (or its initials on the brand color if there is no logo) next to the brand name.
Switching brands
- Click the brand chip at the top of the page.
- A dropdown lists all your brands, each with its logo or initials.
- Click the brand you want. The page immediately reloads its content for that brand.
Brand mode follows you
Your selection is remembered as your active brand mode. Pick a brand on the campaigns page, then open subscribers or signatures, and you are still looking at the same brand. The selection persists in your browser, so it survives page reloads and even a new session on the same device.
Two things can set the active brand:
- The switcher itself: picking a brand in the dropdown makes it the active brand everywhere.
- The page you open: if you navigate to a brand-specific URL (for example by following a link into a particular brand's subscribers), that brand becomes the active one. The page you are actually looking at always wins.
If you have not picked a brand yet, SmartMailing selects your first brand automatically.
No brands yet
If you open a workspace before creating any brand, the switcher is replaced by a notice reading "No brands yet" with a Create a brand link that takes you to the Brands workspace. Most brand-scoped features need at least one brand to work with, so this is the first thing to set up. See Create a brand.
Working across clients as an agency? Make a habit of glancing at the brand chip before you edit or send anything. The active brand mode follows you between pages, so the last client you touched is the one you are still working in.
