Generate and edit web templates

Hosted pages are managed per brand. You generate the default set once, then edit each page's copy and sections whenever you like.

Generate the pages for a brand​

  1. Open Web Templates from the dashboard navigation.
  2. Pick a brand with the brand picker in the header.
  3. Click Generate web templates.

SmartMailing creates one template for each page type, pre-filled with sensible default copy in English and German, using the brand's colors and logo. Generation is safe to repeat: it only fills in page types that do not exist yet and never overwrites pages you have already customized.

Once generated, the workspace shows each flow as a row of numbered step cards. Each card shows the page's languages and when it was last updated, plus two actions:

  • Edit opens the page in the editor.
  • Preview opens the rendered page in a new tab, exactly as a recipient would see it.

A dashed card marked Not generated yet means that step has no template; clicking Generate web templates fills the gap.

The editor​

Clicking Edit opens a two-pane editor: a live preview of the page on the left and an Edit content panel on the right. The preview updates as you type.

The panel lists the page's Sections in order. Select a section to edit its fields:

  • Brand header: an optional subtitle under your logo. Leave it empty to show the logo alone.
  • Message: a headline and body text. Most pages have at least one message block.
  • Email field: the label for the read-only email field. On the live page this field is pre-filled with the recipient's address.
  • Subscribe form fields: labels and placeholders for the email and name inputs on the subscribe form.
  • Checkbox list: the preference center's topic list. Edit the list title, rename options, click Add option to add one, remove options with the x button, and use the checkbox next to each option to set whether it starts checked.
  • Button: the label of the page's main call to action. What the button does is fixed per page (for example, the unsubscribe page's button always confirms the unsubscribe).
  • Link row: secondary links such as Update preferences instead. You can rename them or add and remove entries.
  • Footer: not edited here. It is rendered from the brand profile, so the panel shows a note pointing you to the brand page. The same applies to the logo in the brand header.

Hide a section​

Every section has an eye icon. Click it to hide the section on the live page without deleting its content; click again to bring it back with your edits intact. Hidden sections appear dimmed in the list.

Languages​

Hosted pages support English and German. The language pills (EN, DE) in the editor header switch between versions:

  • A solid pill means that language already has content; clicking it switches to it.
  • A dimmed pill means the language has not been created yet; clicking it creates that version from the default copy, ready for you to edit.

Text content is stored per language, so your English and German copy are independent. The section layout, including which sections are hidden, is shared across languages.

When a recipient opens a page, SmartMailing shows the language stored for that subscriber and falls back to English if there is no matching version.

Save your changes​

Click Save changes at the bottom of the panel. The button stays disabled until something actually changed, and shows Saved once your edits are stored. Changes go live immediately on the hosted URLs.

Use the Preview link in the editor header to open the page in a new tab and check it at full size before sharing the URL.
